Back to the Boat

We get back to the boat mid-June to get her ready to splash back into the water. On arrival Dave found that the port-side battery was dead due to the combiner fuse being blown. This is an issue where the house battery can supply FAR too much current when the thruster is being used and blow the combiner fuse. Over the next few days he finds lots of freeze damage to the water systems. The yard ultimately refunded the money they charged to winterize it but it took days to track everything down.

As we get ready to splash, we discuss the "slow down plan". We did 1600 miles last year but want to slow it down this year. So, more time at each destination and Alaska is probably out this year.

We moved to Everett on the 17th for a couple weeks. There, Carson visited and helped Melissa de-junk the storage unit. They managed to get rid of enough stuff to go from a 10x20 foot unit to a 5x5. Amazing. We just kept financial record, artwork and the giraffe (of course) getting rid of all the furniture. We figure that we will want to have newer and more appropriate furniture if and when we decide to settle down on land up north again.

Then Kelly and Logan show up for a visit. Logan helped Dave with the engine oil changes. It is a messy job but has to be done.

We also put on the new anchor - a 125 pound Manson. We had such good luck with a similar anchor on Apsaras, we just had to go for the upgrade. It fit perfect with no modifications to the pulpit.

Dave also got a lot of use out of his new Lectric bike.
